Goods & Chattel is an ongoing animation project I started in 2020. Having taught myself 3D sculpting and the basics of stop motion animation, I began building the sets and making the figures. The current tests are crude, and I do cringe at it, but it’s a work in progress.

Goods & Chattel followed on from my use of poseable figures in the Studio Notes project. The figure as personal avatar is an important feature of the work, and its style of jointed articulation, like a child’s toy as opposed to clay and wire, is also an integral aspect.

The avatars are used to play with the way we relate to objects around us, and how we feel when common objects take on uncommon sizes.

The figures have been improved and scaled up for greater ease of filming.
